Do you
have a pet? A cuddly creature such as a dog, cat, or bunny (or maybe something
not so cuddly like a snake or a fish)? Either way, you most likely love your
little pet as much as if it were your child. You love snuggling with him or her
and taking them outside to play, or maybe just running around the house. Either
way, they are part of your family.
I have 4 (!) cats and 2 dogs.
My dog, Luke, passed away this spring, and it was incredibly difficult. He had been a part of my life and our family for so many years, and then one day he was gone. It definitely took a toll on me.
My dog
Hitch is almost twelve years old, and he has a tumor on his neck. There really
is nothing that can be done for him, so I am just enjoying him every day. I
love him, give him treats, take him for walks, and just give him all the
attention I can, so his last days, weeks, and months are happy ones.
Pets are
truly special. If you have never owned a pet before, it may be hard
for you to understand just how special they are and what they end up meaning to
you. So saying they are like your child is a good way, for those of you who are
petless, to understand what they mean to us animal lovers. If you're thinking
about getting a dog or cat (or a snake or fish), but you're not sure if you
will like it, do it. You won't regret your decision, and you may even end up
with a little friend who fits right into your home and family.
