What Did You Say?

More fun sayings have popped into my head recently (refer to a former blog post called “What Does That Mean?”). Like, who made these up? Where did they originate?

“Liar, liar, pants on fire.” (Thank goodness our pants do not catch fire when we lie!!)

This article is a good read about this saying (and what you can say in response, should someone actually say this to you!!). Read it HERE.

Another one...

“Nanny-nanny-boo-boo”

also known as…

“Na-na-na-na-boo-boo”

Growing up, my sister and I used to say that to each other, but we would go one better. We would say, “Nanny-nanny-boo-boo, stick your head in pond!” Don’t ask me where we came up with that one. Apparently, it’s supposed to end with “…stick your head in doo-doo.”

I really didn't find anything written about this except meanings or people telling stories of how their kids said this phrase. WordSense actually has the best as far as information.

I think it's a fun phrase, and given that I was a sassy kid, I'm sure I said this one often!!

What are some fun/odd sayings you remember from childhood (or now?).
