I never
used to “love” birds, but after my grandfather died many years ago, I saw his
book on birds lying on the stand next to the couch, and I told my grandma I was
borrowing it. Since then, my husband has built me three bird feeders, and I’ve
enjoyed the company of these strange and amazing creatures.
Oh sure,
the bird poop is annoying (I mean, I’m feeding them! Why are they pooping on my
patio?), and some of them have crazy-awful sounds, but I love them all.
There was
one bird, however, I couldn’t identify by its call. I heard it and adored
the sound. It was like a “P-U-P-U-P-U” sound. Hard to explain. I never saw the
bird.
Recently,
however, I was walking my dogs and heard that bird sound! I smiled and kept
walking, but suddenly, something prompted me to look up.
Up on the
rooftop (no, not Santa!) was a red cardinal. It was SO
pretty and made the “P-U-P-U-P-U” sound! The cardinal stayed there and sang
that silly song until I rounded the corner with the dogs.
You never know what you'll find when you look up, down, or around!!

Have you ever heard that when you see a red cardinal, it means that someone you love that has passed is there watching you? Interesting hmm?
