You’ve
finished your manuscript and want to publish your book, but you don’t want to
self-publish. Maybe you don’t have the time or knowledge, or maybe you want to
publish through a publishing house.
Things are probably running through your head: royalties, rights, choosing a book cover, marketing...
Those
are just a few concerns that many writers have before publishing.
Let
Get It Write help!
Get It Write is a small publishing company that won’t take your rights or royalties, and we
will help you market your book(s).
You
may be wondering, “Why should I have to pay for publishing when I can
self-publish” or “You shouldn’t pay up front for publishing.”
Valid
points. First, think about the process and the cost of self-publishing your
book.
1.
Editing
2.
Proofreading
*Many
editors proof after editing, but I always advise my clients to get another
proof—a final proof from a different source or even a friend who can be another
set of eyes (**someone who can catch errors such as missing punctuation or
repeated words/paragraphs).
3.
Book formatting. Do you know how to properly format your book for publishing?
Do you know the sizes offered by the publishing platforms? Their specs? And if
it’s a children’s book, you’re adding illustrations, so it’s even more complex.
4.
Purchase an ISBN. You can use a free ISBN, but it’s better (for you) to
purchase one.
5.
Creating the proper files for publishing. PDF for print and ePUB for the eBook.
Oh, and don’t forget the front and back cover (and spine, if applicable) must
be in a specific template for publishing.
Once you’re published, you need to market your book. Do you have the time or knowledge? Do you have the resources to get your book into your local bookstores and libraries?
Self-publishing
a book can be very costly, even if you do your own formatting.
Think
about the one-time fee—a reasonable investment on your part—that you would pay
Get It Write to do ALL of that work to get your book published AND provide
marketing services! You would pay for all (or most) of those services if you self-published, so why not get published under a publishing company name AND get the marketing services you deserve?
When
someone hires Get It Write Publishing, this is what they will get:
1.
Choice of a publishing package, a one-time fee that includes editing,
proofreading, book formatting, an ISBN, and (depending on the package),
marketing.
2.
Their own KDP or IS account, which means their own royalties (**except what
Amazon takes out).
3.
Published under Get It Write Publishing (an LLC), so they won’t be considered
“self-published” (though since they’ll be published under their own account,
they will be considered an “Indie” author).
Most
authors don’t want to do their own marketing and want to “make it big,” which
is why they try to use traditional publishing. First, you need an agent for
traditional publishing (in most cases), and though they usually cut you a big
check up front, your book needs to make enough sales to cover that check before
you will even see any more royalties. Second, it takes a lot of time to get in
with a “big” publishing company. Many writers are now using self-publishing or
small publishing companies.
In
addition to that above, Get It Write Publishing will offer marketing services
(different for each package).
