Sleep? What's That?

I love it when websites suggest “more sleep” when you’re looking up ways to get fit, change your lifestyle, have less stress, etc. Like, ok, Karen, ‘cause that’s easy! 

I recently wrote a blog post about the importance of “downtime,” but that’s different from sleep. Downtime is about relaxing, giving yourself time for YOU. Sleep is…well, different. And I want it. I NEED it. I’ve become an insomniac, and it sucks.

Websites also give tips on how to get a better night’s sleep. Don’t be on your phone or computer until you go to bed. Read. Play music. Have something on in the background (fan, a noisemaker). None of that works for me. Melatonin gives me restless leg syndrome. Most sleep aids contain melatonin.

Not to mention, I’m a writer, so my brain is always running. Blog ideas, story ideas, and so on.

 

So, here we are. Little sleep. And little sleep causes long days and grumpiness. No amount of coffee helps.
