Most people know the saying, "Chivalry is not dead," but in the past few years, my mind said it as "Chivalry is dead." Why would I think that? Because for a while, I noticed men weren’t holding doors open for women anymore (including my husband, and he’s always done that!). Gone were the days of opening a car door for a woman, and men ordered first at a restaurant or any food/coffee shop.
I think chivalry died because of the changes in society. (Many) women want to be 110% equal to men (Heaven forBID a man offer to pay or hold a door open, etc.). It would almost be an insult for a man to act as he would in the "old days." It’s not just that, though. (Some) women aren’t exactly ladylike anymore. I’m not completely ladylike, but I know how and when to act like a lady (i.e., in PUBLIC).
**Note: I found this on Pinterest, and I know "ladylike" is one word but using it anyway!
Anyhoo, I began keeping my eyes peeled for chivalrous men and found myself surprised that chivalry is not, in fact, dead. Well, not totally. I have even experienced chivalry while on errands or shopping.
Call me old-fashioned, but I’ll always love when men hold a door open for a woman, let the woman order first, and act chivalrously.
