About Me

Welcome to my blog!

This blog is similar to my former blog (As Real As It Gets) with a little name change, and content will be different.

Now, here's what I do...

I am a self-published author of eight children’s books and three novels (to date).

I have also designed and published journals for kids, teens, and adults, and design coffee mugs. These are all part of the Melanie Lynn Collection, which can be found at www.melanielynncollection.com.

I’m also an editor. My freelance editing company is called Get It Write Editing Co. This will soon be transitioning into a publishing company.

What will the company do? Publish books!

Get It Write Publishing will not take royalties. Your book(s) will be published under the Get It Write Publishing name, but we will go through IngramSpark for publishing under your name.

You may be wondering, “Why would I pay you to publish for me when I can self-publish myself?”

Good question.

Currently, Get It Write Editing Co. offers editing, book formatting, and self-publishing (consulting and doing it for my clients on their IngramSpark account). They pay a one-time fee for each service, get a free ISBN from IS (IngramSpark) and are labeled “self-published.” They also do their own marketing.

When someone hires Get it Write Publishing, this is what they will get:

1. Choice of a publishing package with a one-time fee that includes editing, proofreading, book formatting, an ISBN through Get It Write, and (depending on the package) marketing.

2. Their own IS account, which means their own royalties (**except what Amazon takes out).

3. Published under Get It Write Publishing (an LLC), so they won’t be considered “self-published” (though since they’ll be published under their own account, they will be considered an “Indie” author).

Most authors don’t want to do their own marketing and want to “make it big,” which is why they try to use traditional publishing. First, you need an agent for traditional publishing (in most cases) and they take a cut. Second, it takes a lot of time to get in with a “big” publishing company. Many writers are using self-publishing or small publishing companies now.

In addition to the above, Get It Write Publishing will offer marketing services (different for each package).

Follow me on social media to get updates about the new website and when Get It Write Publishing will be up and running.

In the meantime, if you’re an author, or a writer who wants to become an author, feel free to email me at melanie.author@yahoo.com or visit www.getitwriteeeditingco.com and see the current services offered. I’m accepting submissions for publishing now, though the transfer will likely happen early March!
